Williamston, NC

Reenacting the Williamston Freedom Movement

Fifty years ago the black community in Williamston decided to take a stand against segregation. On October 11, 2013 I was a part of an reenactment to honor this group of dedicated citizens.  The program was sponsored by the national Community Learning Exchange organization but was organized locally by Lawrence Hogdkins.  I was grateful for a chance to co-host the discussion along with participant Styron Bond.  It was exciting to see people from all across the nation who wanted to talk about my research and how the past is still effecting the community of Williamston.
