As soon
as Superintendent Phillips began describing the runner up, I knew that it was
me. The Superintendent quoted my Principal Emily Pake who wrote, “She strives to provide the best educational
experience for her students by expanding her own knowledge of her content area
and building positive relationships with students. I am truly impressed by her professionalism,
her sincere dedication to student achievement, and belief in lifelong learning.”
It was a great honor
to be chosen as runner up for Beaufort County Teacher of the Year. When I
stepped forward one of my former teachers, Penny Paul called out, “she is one
of mine.” It was a great moment to be
recognized for my dedication to teaching in front of my family and coworkers.
