The Dutch Republic and Britain:
The Making of Modern Society and a European World Economy
For five amazing weeks this summer I explored London and the Netherlands with a group of teachers from all over the United States. Each of us brought different talents and backgrounds to the seminar, which resulted in interesting discussions. We all began to question what we had been taught about history as Dr. Koot, the seminar leader, encourages us to search for the roots of the Industrial Revolution. I found myself reflecting on the way that I teach certain concepts and realizing that I can never view history the same way again. I found myself questioning the traditional historiography and looking for different perspectives on the Industrial Revolution. I am a better historian and teacher because of this experience.
