Mount Vernon, VA

Mount Vernon's Teacher Institute

I spent last week at Mount Vernon with fourteen other high school teachers studying the life of George Washington. I was impressed by the variety of scholars that presented on topics from 18th century surveying techniques to integrating common core. I had a wonderful time talking with the presenters and fellow teachers about ways to teach these concepts to my students. One of my favorite things about the institute was staying on site, it was an amazing experience to sit on Washington’s piazza and watch the sunset on the same view that he enjoyed.
