Montgomery, Alabama
No civil rights trip would be complete without visiting the city that helped to start the modern civil rights movement. A few blocks from Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, the State Capital building, and the Southern Poverty Law Center sits the Rosa Parks museum. I was thoroughly impressed by the interactive museum that encourages visitor to discuss the movement. The interpretation went beyond Rosa Parks arrest to present an empowering story of activism. It was a great end to a wonderful trip.
