North Carolina Council for Social Studies Conference
I first attended the NCCSS Conference as a student teacher, so it was exciting to return this year as a presenter. My presentation was on integrating primary source documents from the National Humanities Center into your classroom. The NHC provided several handouts and freebies for the audience.
I decided to make my presentation as interactive as possible. I gave each participant a different primary source document and asked them to share how they could use the document in their class. Afterwards I share some techniques that I use to integrate primary sources into my lessons as well as some information about the NHC. Several participants came up to me after the presentation to tell me that they found my presentation very useful.
